The world heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, easily retained his WBO crown when he knocked out Australia's Alex Leapai in the fifth round in a farcical affair.

The 38-year-old Klitschko hasn't been beaten since he was stopped in April of 2004 by Lamon Brewster.

Klitschko knocked down his opponent after a few seconds in the first round, a big left-right combination sending the 34-year-old Samoan spinning to the canvas. Leapai pointed at the advertising decal in ring center, claiming that he "slipped."

The Ukrainian, whose record now stands at 62 wins with 52 knockouts and three defeats, then shelled the hopeless Leapai in round five with jabs and right crosses, knocking him down once again before a clean knockout with less than a minute left in the round.

"Alex Leapai, I know it was not easy for you but you were up against the best fighter in the world and it was hard," said Klitschko. "Despite my 38 years I felt superb. I was in top form tonight in the ring."

Leapai, who got a shot at Klitschko after an upset win over Russian Denis Boytsov in November last year came into the fight heavier than he's ever been (over 248 pounds??)...A head scratcher after so many on-line reports that he was "training hard."

An Oscar award should be given to Klitschko's actress girlfriend Hayden Panetierre who looked on in gleeful surprise as her fiancée beat the crap out of a man who was a half foot shorter and woefully out shape..."He won!" Panetierre mouthed to a ringside friend..."He won! I can't believe it!"
