"THE FIGHT LIFE" -
Art "All Heart" Medina works full time painting
houses. He isalso a single father of a six year
old boy and uses boxing to supplement his
income. Art is the quintessential "club fighter",
the guy brought in to fight the hometown
favorite. Despite the odds, Art keeps coming
forward and never stops punching. And
his opponents always know that they've been
in a fight. This documentary chronicles Art's
training and mindset before yet
another fight.
The Dominican Republic is known for churning out
great baseball players. Wilson Montero, however,
chose boxing over baseball. In so doing he
become one of the top amateurs on the Tampa
Bay Area boxing circuit. Now turning pro, he must
juggle first time fatherhood and long hours as a
trucking driving instructor while pursuing his fistic
dreams.
"THE FIGHTERS OF LA HABRA" -
A church converts itself into a place called the La
Habra Boxing Club and produces three of the top
Mexican superstars in the upper weight divisions.
Julio Gonzalez, Librado Andrade and Enrique
Ornelas discuss their beginnings in the fight game
and other minutiae of the sport in this segment
of the documentary. Julio Gonzalez comes from
the tough streets of Fresno, California to become
a world champion while the Andrade brothers go
from working in a Jack in the Box to becoming
among the top contenders in their weight classes.
